Steeped in mistiness and atmospheric mood, “Architectural Murmurings" straddles a space between photography and watercolour painting. I photographed the abandoned site of a high school that was built in 1913 on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Now desolate and in the middle of the jungle, the walls, arches and columns are reminiscent of Europe, which in a far flung outpost such as Maui, must have signified higher learning. It started to rain while I was working, but I continued, and when the sun came out, moisture began to evaporate from the structure. Reflections remained in the pools of water.

While editing them, I discovered the beautiful ambience of the strong stone structure enveloped within the nebulousness of the moisture in the air. I feel grateful to have been witness to the day.
